**Transform Lives with the Barclays Uganda Project!**

In 2013, a dedicated team from Barclays Bank, including Mark Hutchison and Liana Johnstone, embarked on a life-changing journey to Uganda with MAD4Africa. Their mission? To build a school and supply the local health centre with vital medical resources. Through incredible efforts like climbing Ben Nevis, bake sales and raffles, they raised an impressive £50,000.

During their trip, the team not only constructed the school but also assisted with vaccinations at the health center, forging unforgettable bonds with the local community. 

Mark and Liana’s commitment didn’t end there. They pledged to support four orphaned boys, ensuring they attend boarding school, with the wonderful Bosco caring for them during holidays and attending to their well-being. To fund this support, Liana and Mark undertake numerous fundraisers such as Ben Nevis climbs (see photo to left from June 2024), step challenges and bake sales. In 2018, Mark also completed three ultra-marathons: The Highland Fling, The West Highland Way Race, and The Devil O’ the Highlands. R.E.S.P.E.C.T!

August 2024 – Mark and his son aged 8 (!) will climb the mighty Ben Nevis together to help install lightning rods to keep students and staff safe against lightning strikes at Muganza School, Rwanda. Please join them and make a difference by donating  here.
