What's Next

Our work at the Maraba Vocational Training Centre continues. We are seeking funds to build a 60 bed dormitory.

Many of the girls that attend the training centre walk or cycle for many miles to get there and back. Their journeys can sometimes take 2 – 3 hours each way in all weathers, often leaving home before the sun comes up and arriving back home after sundown. Some walk along unlit and unpaved roads or across country over the many hills in Rwanda (it’s not called the land of a thousand hills for nothing!)

It’s often their first time outside their own village and can be quite daunting for them. Some of the young women start the course and find it too hard to continue due to the exertions of just getting there and back. Boys attending the centre are a little bit more robust and will happily bed down with local families or bunk down together in a local house. The girls need a more secure and safe environment.

If you think you can help us to raise the funds to get this up and runing, head on over to our Get Invoved page or donate using the link to JustGiving.

This is a photo of the existing accomodation which can only take a few students. It's quite run down and not really suitable for long term living

This is where the new accommodation will be situated - definitly a roon with a view!
